I'm demonstrating spinning on a drop spindle.

About Me
I designed Vt. Boot Bracelets from a technique called finger-weaving, which I originally learned as a homeschooling project with my son several years ago. I use only yarn I have spun by hand, most of it from the sheep & other fiber animals of local, sustainable small Vermont farms, including some from my own sheep.
My mission in starting the Vt. Boot Bracelet Co. is to connect people holistically with healthy, sustainable living by offering a beautiful fashion accessory that is delightfully soft to touch, sturdy enough to wear year-round & which helps us feel closer to the land through the natural beauty of traditional hand spinning and weaving. |
My Fiber Arts Background
|
I have been involved in fiber arts for as long as I can remember - from the time my mother taught me a simple running stitch. From sewing I moved on to embroidery, spinning, then small-scale weaving. I have worked professionally for two home luxury home fabric & furnishing custom design & production companies, taught fiber arts to children & adults, &demonstrated traditional crafts in a living history museum at the Tunbridge World's Fair as well as making lots of fun things for myself, my family, friends & homestead.
Here I am (in the white cap) working on a Victorian-inspired crazy quilt at the Tunbridge Fair. When finished, the quilt will be raffled off to benefit the Chelsea Farmers Market. It's a community crazy quilt, meaning that many people have worked on it over the last couple years, including children, both boys & girls, just learning to sew. |
More about Me
|
In addition to designing & crafting Boot Bracelets, I manage our small homestead, which has been home to quite a few chickens, sheep, goats, cows, pigs, bees and my beloved rescued Quarter Horse, Sunny. Here is Sunny watching over Marigold, our most recent Jersey calf, while her mother dozes nearby.
I also practice ReiKi energy healing, as a Usui ReiKi Master. ReiKi healing is wonderful for both humans & other animals. For more information on ReiKi or to schedule a session visit www.essentialarts.net. I am involved in creating the Vershire Women's Wellness Circle & Vermont Weaving Well-being, 2 new exciting groups forming in central Vermont. I also help operate the Made In Vershire Shop, an outlet for locally-made craft products in our town. |
